Who
has not seen the National Geographic television program called
"Megastructures", better known in Spanish as Super Structures. I got the video that speaks of the Panama Canal operation and plans for expansion.
It is an entertaining way to learn more about the Panama Canal, the video (spanish) is divided into 5 parts of about 10 minutes each. Telling
the story of two ships transiting one of the Atlantic to the Pacific
Ocean and other ships transiting the Pacific to the Atlantic. In addition to showing the powerful machinery that uses the Panama Canal. The
first part of the video gives an introduction of the Panama Canal, the
ships transiting types, hazards and the basic operation of the Panama
Canal.
The
second part of the video speaks further on the characteristics and
dangers that have some boats, and the precautions to have the Panama
Canal to ensure safe passage.

We have videos of the history of the Panama Canal narrated by History Channel. The videos only speak about the Panama Canal construction and not about treated. Sorry but I could not find an English version of these videos. The first video talks about Ferdinand de Lesseps and the beginning of the French canal.
The second video talks about the problems of the French canal and the start of construction of the canal by John Stevens.
