The Museum is located in Panama Viejo, Via Cincuentenario, corregimiento de Parque Lefevre; it is administered by the Patronato de Panama Viejo, organization without aims of profit and mixed regime formed by the Kiwanis Club of Panama, that presides over it, el Instituto Nacional de Cultura (INAC), el Instituto Panameño de Turismo (IPAT) y el Banco HSBC.

The National Library "Ernesto J. Castillero R." it is the axis of the system librarian in Panama.
